A friend recently asked me if Vegas is our forever home. I paused for about a second and said…
“Forever… for now.”
I am honest and I do not know what the future holds. I do know we both love living in Las Vegas, love our friends, love our home, love our jobs/volunteer work, love our neighborhood, loving being 20 minutes from the sports and entertainment capital of the world in the Las Vegas Strip. Simple put: Las Vegas is a great place to live!
On the other hand if both kids end up somewhere else and with grandkids I could see it changing… but I have no clue as the kids are 20 and 21 and hopefully not about to have kids of their own. MEMO TO M AND E: Delay, delay, delay!
We always mention this as our kids lived in Cali until high school graduation and have never lived in Vegas so don’t know many people here. This is not their home and if it wasn’t for Elvis the dog I don’t know if either of them would visit us!?
Or kat and I could move abroad as we half-joke to each other quite often. Japan being our number one place we say we’ll move since we both loved it so much the one time we visited there. Of course, the fact that neither of us speak Japanese and Japan, as a country, being restrictive to newcomers make that move highly unlikely… but we like to pretend it’s a viable option… well, and you never say never!
I would have thought we’d never move from Roseville as it was an awesome place to live. Amazing suburban Living, half hour to the Golden One Center to see the Kings, two hours to SF, two hours to Tahoe…. Truly a great location and so many great people live there! The greater Sacramento metro area is a great place to live. It turns out Vegas been even greater for us!
Furthermore, I never thought we’d find the transition to a new home to be so smooth. It’s been easier than I could have ever planned to meet so many great people, find out there is so much more to Vegas than we ever thought, and even get acclimated to the warm summers!
The transition to Vegas life has taught me two things:
1) I think we will enjoy wherever we call home; and
2) we could move because we can do it!
So for today we are going to continue to love where we live and keep living here forever… until forever changes and then we’ll move!
Home truly is where the heart is and… where your bff is… so for now… VIVA LAS VEGAS!
P.S. Why this random Vegas neighborhood photo? It is our neighborhood and for the last year and a half there has been a fence blocking that street. The sales office and the model homes are there so they blocked the street. GPS shows you going that way to get to our house and thus we have had lost friends, delivery drivers, etc… MANY TIMES! Talk about the small things in life… halleluiah!
