Hello World Post:
Recently I came up with the idea of starting a new blog or a new website or a new something. A place to share my thoughts on the world! I enjoy writing and I have a lot to say! I actually have done this multiple times in the past… though I am still a newbie. I started my professional blog at CaliforniaProbate.INFO/blog in 2006 and still update it so if you are ever having trouble sleeping at night go check it out! Beyond that in 2007 I started a blog under an aka: SacTownGuy and I posted almost 200 times there on a wide variety of random topics. Then, in 2020, we started talking about moving from California and I started MiddleAgeMoving.com. Also, in 2020, I helped our daughter create her travel blog StampYourBook.com which makes me jealous of how amazing her parents must be to have enabled her to travel the world so much!
So what is this? Another travel blog? Another lifestyle blog? Another lawyer blog? Another random blog? An autobiography? How about… an I really don’t know what blog!? A cornucopia of different stuff! How can this be you ask? The digital content “experts” say to have a niche. They say to have a topic. They say to get really good at that ONE thing. Honestly I don’t know what one thing I want to talk about and thus we are not listening to the experts. Here’s me thinking….
In recent weeks I came up with the idea for this new blog but my ideas have wandered a lot… hence the name! Then I started talking to my better half: Kathleen, Kat, Kitty Kat or Kitty to our young relatives. Kat has a lot of great ideas and, it appears, a real desire to put her thoughts down in ink. Thus you now get BOTH of us from time to time… although she now has started her own website too! You can check out “our” other page at wanderingpalz.com
Some ideas I have considered for posting about here:
– A blog filled with my stories about being a stadium usher… well, that would be fun but you can only write so much about that. I mean the unruly and/or self absorbed fan who tells you he is better than you because you are wearing an usher uniform is funny… or sad… but I can only tell those stories so many times.
– A lawyer blog clearly geared to generating legal work related to California probate and estate planning might be good for my pocket and, yes I got mouths to feed too…but, honestly, the thought of doing that full time makes me want to ____ [insert your own metaphor here and you’ll probably be right]! YES, I will post occasionally when I get a particularly amusing story that I can share but mainly please remember I can help you with California legal matters related to estate planning and probate laws. I really don’t know anything else in the law as I graduated from law school in 1994 so my knowledge is very focused now! Yes, I have been a lawyer longer than Google has been around! Longer than Tesla too! Yes, I am OLD!
– What about a blog about rap music… or even dedicated to west coast gangsta’ rap of the 1980’s and early 1990’s… which basically means LA rappers + Too Short. Trivia: Too Short is actually an LA rapper too! Born and raised in LA and moved to the biggity biggity O’ during middle school. Jus’ sayin’. Anyway, I find that stuff interesting but not sure I only want to write about one topic like that.
– Ok, I know, I know… a travel blog! That’s the ticket! We love to travel. My guess is a lot of our travel stuff will end up on PinkUmbrellaLife.com so pay attention over there too! I think that is what is going to to get Kat… errrrr, I mean Kitty Kat… to get into this whole website/blogging concept. She can take videos and photos…. Plus she loves to write! Hey, random thought, just asking for a friend, does blogging about your travel and maybe one day monetizing said website make your travel tax deductible? Hmmmm, I… I mean our friend, needs to talk to their CPA about that!
– Where was I… Ummmmm, yes, a travel blog! The problem is we like talking about other stuff too so there will be some travel talk but that’s just going to be one piece. Having said all that, during our recent trip to Hawaii PUG got the website itch and she is working on some amazing travel stories. Be on the lookout for reports on old travel as well as new stuff as we have a fair amount of travel scheduled in the next 12 months or so!
– What about financial matters? I know a thing or two about investments – stocks, bonds, real estate, credit, and even budgeting! Plus, credit card deals and how to maximize points earnings to get free travel and other stuff. Those are good topics but honestly do I have to put a disclaimer on every single sentence like “I am just some dumb guy giving my opinion and you should do your own stinking research before you invest any money in anything!” What about… dare I say… Crypto currency!? I actually may bring in a special guest writer on topics such as that, Danny The Cross Fade Beast is a Crypto savant! We shall see….
– Oh ya, another topic I know a bit about is grief. I did have a little situation happen in 2016 resulting in my mom’s death. Undoubtedly I’ll tell you about that – murder/suicide, mental health, and even one area I haven’t touched on before Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). Heck, beyond my own stuff, I have been an estate attorney for 30+ years (that’s another reminder to keep me in mind should you ever have a need related to California wills, trusts and probate laws) so I have dealt with a ton of sad stories. Both helping plan for people who were days or weeks from death but also, multiple thousands of times, dealt with cleaning up estates after death.
– Kitty Kat and I moved to an active 55+ community in late 2022. While I’d like to create a sitcom I think simply reporting on some of the stuff we see might bring a chuckle or two. In all seriousness though we absolutely love our neighbors and neighborhood but for stuff like HOA drama, pickleball drama, and just general drama, our hood lives up to the reputation of a 55+ community!
– What am I forgetting? Well, TWO things I plan to NOT talk about: politics and religion. I would explain why but then I’d be talking about them and I just told you I am not going to talk about them. NOT GONNA HAPPEN! NADA! ZERO! ZILCH! Although, I did wear my Spicoli for President shirt yesterday.
So… with all that said, and I have greatly exceeded all blog lengths that any blog expert says to write, I got a lot of stuff coming so please keep checking back or even subscribe! Plus, if you have ideas for content or questions just contact me and let me know! I even have an anonymous contact option so you can give your snarkiest comments there if you want! Let me say right now, if I get anything that starts or ends with “F’ the Dodgers…” I’ll know it comes from P’town Mo… though he actually lives in Folsom now.
